So yeah, some music ideas for Minecraft.

wat

I think I will ignore most of the criticism I received for the music I did. But I guess I will think about some ideas people brought up. The biggest problem everyone seems to have are the pauses between songs. They were never intended to be so empty and sound-free as we originally wanted to have some ambient noise like natural forest sounds. We probably eventually will, but now there is nothing but footsteps. I think after next week, the sound will procedurally change from time to time, as I will invest as much time as I can into Minecraft. I will listen to the biggest problems people have, but there are too many individual issues here and there, so I will most certainly not please every single person on earth. I can live with that though.

Okay now, what will the music sound like?

Probably similar.

Probably less slow.

Probably with more rhythm.

Probably a tad less depressing.

Probably looped.

Probably fitting to current themes. Hell?

Probably only with Notch’s approval before I put stuff online.

Probably will take a while. Before I release anything and show anything to anyone, I want the music to sound good. I personally want to feel it is right to release what I do. So I think I will take my time.

I loved the old music, except for, yes, the depressing par, but I love everything you’ve done here so anything should please me :D

I love the current music in minecraft. I think it provides a powerful atmosphere. I hope at least some of the new stuff is still gloomy.

It always seemed more ‘relaxing’ than ‘depressing’ to me – it makes me kinda wanna curl up and sleep. Which is depressing as opposed to stimulating, I guess, but it’s not depressing as opposed to uplifting.

According to my friend, he says the music depresses him a lot.

But I personally think the music is pretty relaxing although it does depress me too.

    My ideas for this is:

    - Paradise Mode (indev): should be happy and uplifting (Techno, House, Disco)

    - Hell Mode (indev): should be something more like a military boot camp or something

    - Woods Mode (indev): Should be darker music

    - Normal Mode (indev): Pretty much the same

while i love the music, even the technoey, upbeat stuff (which i normaly dislike) i would like to see the ‘depressing’ stuff in there. not as in sad, but as in relaxing. it’s nice to be playing a game that relaxes you sometimes rather than one that constantly tries to get you rowled up and exitable. either way, your music is great and i love it. :) keep up the good work!

The music is perfect. The slow, depressing stuff immerses you in the world you’re in, and the gaps between music allow you to be alone with yourself (well…your character…) I personally think it’s amazing when your walking along and this beautiful, depressing piano piece kicks in when you don’t expect it. Although, it would be cool to have other tracks as well. THANKS!
